exhibition but historical sites located in and around the St. Louis metro area.

What is a Study Tour?
It is a group tour with a specific theme led by designated experts in their field of study.
You will find in depth touring of the destination as well as lectures, seminars and
interaction with the noted scholars and group leaders.
"The Missouri Historical Society is proud to announce a season of L&C study tours that
will take you to the places described in the expedition journals. Staff members working on
the upcoming Lewis and Clark: The National Bicentennial Exhibition will guide your
group in an in-depth exploration of the Corps of Discovery and the natural and cultural
landscapes it encountered. Have the experience of a lifetime as you travel the rivers
and trails of this legendary expedition."
Where are the Study Tours going?
Available programs:
- Commemorating York Study Tour —
SUNDAY OCTOBER 12 through WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 15
This three-day study tour, an expansion of MHS’ African American
History Series, will include an examination of African American
heritage along the route from Missouri to Louisville, Kentucky,
home of William Clark and York, Clark’s slave. The tour guide will
be Dr. John Wright, noted historian and author. Dr. Donald Matthews,
a professor from the University of Missouri Kansas City, will serve
as a York reenactor. The study tour will conclude with participation
in the dedication of the York statue, a National Council of the
Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Signature
