Objects

The Missouri History Museum’s objects collection consists of more than 60,000 artifacts that document the lives of the diverse inhabitants and the history of the institutions of the St. Louis region. Reflecting the breadth and complexity of the region’s history, the collections bring together a variety of objects, including American Indian artifacts, furniture, household items, costumes and textiles, personal items, toys, art, military artifacts, tools, and equipment, as well as political and commercial ephemera. Locally made items are especially well represented. Some artifact collections are also augmented and documented by material in the Museum’s library and archival collections. Some major collections include:
- Clothing and Textiles
- Katherine Dunham
- Charles Lindbergh
- Louisiana Purchase Exposition (1904 World’s Fair)
- Veiled Prophet
- Eads Bridge
- Insurance Fire Marks – Morton T. Werner Collection
- African American Collection and Collecting Initiative
